From f5.6 to f11 it is good though Nikon's MTF show it is not a top performer in the corners at f2.8 except on DX.

It has a very small rear element very close to the mirror so digital corner shading issues are greater than on most Nikon lenses.

I sold my copy within two weeks of getting a D3 because at f2.8 performance was not good in the corners.  If you can live with the limitations it is a lightweight option until Nikon bring out an upgrade.
