In order that DPReview members be able to understand the specific root causes of such moderator or administrator actions, it would be a very good idea (and would be a reasonable and coherent policy/procedure) to provide a public moderator/administrator notice (posted on the affected forum) whenever a thread is either deleted, locked, or moved to another forum.

Dpreview is working on new features for moderation, at least I read that. Hope they implement some facilities that will make easier for moderators to inform users in a better way of what happened.

Three simple and readily available techniques presently implementable using existing technology:

[1] When a thread is moved, a single-post only thread entilted, "Re: [Thread Title]" noting that the particular thread has been moved, and where it has been moved to, can be provided in a post on that single-post thread by the responsible moderator or administrator.

[2] When a thread is deleted, a single-post only thread entilted, "Re: [Thread Title]" noting that the particular thread has been deleted, and for what reason(s) it has been deleted, can be provided in a post on that single-post thread by the responsible moderator or administrator.

[3] When a thread is locked, an explanation of the reason(s) why that thread has been locked can be provided in a post on that same thread by the responsible moderator or administrator.

There appears to be no need to wait for some sort of "technology" advances emerging from, and implemented by, DPR administrative staff in order to implement all three of the above procedures.

Thanks for your thoughtful consideration, Aleo. It is a welcome quality lacking on another DPR forum.
