I think the quality of some SZ are really good, one can always argue about sensors and doing the maths in relation to what equipment is fastest, but having shot many DSLRs and SZ cameras, its nice not to carry heavy lens around. A one camera does all is handy when it comes to traveling light. Im glad i dont have to carry all those lens around like i use to, and end up with a bad back/neck. Dont know if this helps you, perhaps i have misunderstood your reasoning, anyway all the best.
