Buying a used lens

Ultimately that decision is up to you.  Having said that, I would not buy a used lens unless it was from somebody reputable that I trust (eg. B&H or Adorama).  If cost is a major concern, have you considered a new Sigma 17-50, an excellent lens, instead of the Canon?  I have a couple Sigma lenses and am very pleased with them.
