Thanks, Guy ( and others).

Concerning the length of any interesting tele lens, I'm thinking that 200mm, or 300mm tops, would be sufficient. What's good (with decent full tele range), but not necessarily a top-dollar (AKA: Canon "L"-like) lens?

A good consumer grade m4/3rds tele lens would be great for the time being. What would you advise? Thanks

I shouldn't get involved, but I'll have a go. I don't know anything about that camera Bob. Since you mention "L" lenses, I'll have a crack.

There is a secret and its not snob value and I know for a fact on this. Fluorite in a lens makes a HUGE difference, but and here it comes, not all Canon "L" lenses use Fluorite, some just use ultra low dispersion elements and those can have CA. The lenses I use that do have a Fluorite front element has absolutely none and are sharper over those that don't and just use the ULD elements.

Sigma APO's I have also have CA, only slight though and easily corrected, the non APO versions I've seen from Sigma are pretty shocking in that regard ...... IMO.

Nikkor ED versions, excellent lenses, but you can also get slight CA in those as well.

Anyway, I'll mind my own business now.

All the best Bob and good luck with it.

Danny.
