Help! Odd behaviour using Nikkor 24-70 mm lens
Feb 9, 2013

I'm shooting a track meet right now, and use my 24-70 long for awards presentations, tight shots, etc. I was about to shoot a presentation when the image was "dark"; I took a test shot, and then all was fine.

Except I was asked to take another shot, and again, the image went "dark" but it has now stayed dark. It is almost as if the aperture closed down. Except when I gave the lens to put his Nikon, it worked! And, other lens (my 70-200) work on my D3s. So, I can't tell if it's the lens, the camera, both?

I did get an error message (r60), but not sure what it's referring to other than a lens communication issue. But then why would it work on my friend's Nikon camera?

I tried cleaning the contacts a bit, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any suggestions?
