Bought Nex-6...pondering getting PL5 instead...?

I did not mention the EVF in the original post but even if I don't consider it a must it is already after a few days of playing with the camera a serious plus. I really do like the feeling of putting the camera to the eye. It has been a long time since I could do that and it reminded me of my early days and first try at becoming more versed in photography with my dad's inherited AE-1 back in the 80's. (That time I stopped due to it being so costly to develop the negatives.)

I AM willing to compromise with pocketability when travelling and use a 18-200 telezoom lens for all situations.

I think I need to go the camera store tomrrow and test the PL5 and now maybe also the Nikon N1 for a while.

Clayton1985, you suggest that "A high quality compact with a fixed lens with good range IMO will be closer to meeting your needs in these situations than any mirrorless system." I wonder if I have made you think I value pocketability higher than 1) image quality and 2) possibility to get close to distant subjects. If so, I beg your pardon.

1) From reading around it seems RX100 is the pinnacle of compacts right now, and from my comparisons it has a hard time challenging the m4/3 and APS-c mirrorless systems when I look at galleries here on the site. That, if being correct, means a lot more to me than pocketability. Also being able to take pictures in low light conditions is high up on my agenda. Also the RX100 is just to slippery for my liking.

2) Correct me if I am wrong but is there anything even remotely akin to a 18-150/200mm focal length in the world of non-ICL compacts? If not that kind of pocketability is out. The defining moments over the last few years that has lead up to this current camera purchase has been me being on vacation and not getting those interesting shots of the top of the Brooklyn Bridge from street level and coming home from Madrid only to see that even in bright sunlight there was considerable noise in the pictures to the extent that two years' worth of photographs are plain uninteresting.

These considerations are what I think keeps me in the ICL segment.

Incidently, I started this quest for proper IQ when on vacation and proper IQ when documenting the lives of myself and those that I care about (coming as I am from an old P&S) I did not know of MICL cameras and thought my options were maybe a D7000 or something. But to be honest, that size did scare me! So it was a relief to find out about these mirrorless beauties. I guess I am trying to see how far I can push the size considerations...
