By the way, what lens or lenses did you get to replace the 16-50 PZ?

Well I may be offering myself to the wolves here, but NEX-wise my plan was to stick with the 1650 (I have lightroom so no problems shooting RAW from a distortion point of view) and get a Sony/Tamron 18-200mm telephoto lens for travelling and leave the 1650 at home.

I just have not become that kind of photographer yet that lugs around several lenses on vacation, partly because I do not yet know when to choose between them I think (I am coming from an 8 year-old p&s) and also because my girlfriend is already asking me anxiously if I only will be looking at my camera during our upcoming vacation in Istanbul so I figured I would limit the friction by taking out lenschanging from the equation entirely.

Then - maybe - I would get the new Sony pancake 20mm for everyday portability at home, and if I understand when a Sigma 30mm would come in handy I might get one of those to. I live in Sweden so lenses are a bit more expensive here than in the US and B&H offer get expensive with taxes added.

But basically, the only sure buy would be a travel telephoto lens, rather than getting the two-lens NEX-6 kit with 1650 plus 55-210.

For fun, I would want to get a Canon FD adapter because then I could use the 35mm and 135 mm lenses that I inherited with my fathers Canon AE-1. Woulöd be fun to see if and how they work.

You are doing exactly what you should do which is to really think about how you will really use the camera system and find something that fits your needs.  I just have my doubts that you will be able to find that combination of size and flexibility that you are looking for in a mirrorless system based on your original post and your above comments.  A high quality compact with a fixed lens with good range IMO will be closer to meeting your needs in these situations than any mirrorless system.

Of course if you have the budget to do both then you can match the camera to the situation and have the best of both worlds.   Taking your NEX system in a small bag with room to throw a compact camera in there is easy to do and you can leave the NEX in the car or hotel room when you don't want to carry a small bag.
