Auto Selection of AF on 1DX

Writing this explanation got me thinking: why isn't there an option to have the camera both choose the starting AF point automatically and have the camera pass that AF point around the 61-point array automatically?

The logic to do either task is obviously functional in the camera already. I can't imagine it could be that much work to add the logic to do both tasks sequentially.
