14mm is a LOT wider than 18. Over 22% wider!!

14mm FOV is 89 degrees
18mm FOV is 76 degrees
89/76 = 17% wider
12mm is 99 degree FOV or about 30% wider
Hmmmm.....
(18-14)/18*100=22.5%
Why would the percent change in focal length not correlate to the percent change in FOV? Is the relationship not linear?

It is not linear but slightly curved, more so at the wide end than longer FL. Below is the FOV information for various lenses
