Leanne, Wikipedia states :-

"  Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field. Bokeh is often most visible around small background highlights, such as specular reflections and light sources, which is why it is often associated with such areas.[3] However, bokeh is not limited to highlights; blur occurs in all out-of-focus regions of the image. "

and its the 'often associated with' bit that I was thinking of. To me Bokeh is any OOF part of a photo and not just the OOF highlights, but when you do a search for picks of Bokeh such as

virtually every photo is of OOF highlights. I guess this is why the word is connected with highlights so much nowadays.

It's strange to think that when I used to use my SLR's the word 'Bokeh' didn't even exist!
