I own a 5D Mk II, but we have a 5D Mk I body at work that I've used quite a bit on the job. It's a very nice camera. Fast enough for anything short of action sports, and the output has a certain film-like quality that I like a lot.

The main thing missing, compared to current models, are Live View and video recording.

I'm sure someone's already mentioned it on this thread by now, but there's a port of the Magic Lantern firmware enhancements for the 5D Classic (as they call it for the sake of clarity).  It doesn't support video, of course, or Live View, but it includes almost all the Magic Lantern non-Live View/Video features that are available on other newer bodies. Intervalometer, reprogrammable buttons, etc. I use Magic Lantern on my Mk II and love it.
