There is nothing that will work for you better than a black body radiator.

You say the tungsten light "discolors" the metal.  You don't mean that it discolors the metal physically through photochemical reaction, right?  This suggests that you are having trouble with color profiling.  I'd suggest the use of either an X-rite passport or a QPCard to generate a color profile.

You will never get true color balance with a florescent made today.  For artistic applications, you can sometimes get away with these things pretty well.  But in any situation where you need critical color correction, there's nothing that compares to a black body radiator.
