Thanks for a detailed response.
I will be shooting from a tripod but the light from a soft box or two is intended more to pick up highlights and shapes rather than anything else, I'm trying to avoid a flat image.
The space is tiny, about 3.5m by 3m max. 35mm is about what I need to get the bike in shot: going any longer would require demolishing a wall behind me ;). I could go wider but I don't won't to introduce barrel distortion which I get a bit of on my 17-40.
It doesn't matter if the background isn't perfectly lit as I'll be using Object->Clipping path tool in InDesign which dies a good job with less than perfect backgrounds. I may set it up unlit and post the picture for a better idea of what I'm trying to do.
