On your Olympus XZ-1 or XZ-2, make sure the camera is set to the highest possible resolution. My XZ-1 takes 2736 x 3648 JPGs. The bigger, the better. If you want to make a print at 300 dpi (sharp on any printer), you will need to send a 2400 x 3000 file to make an 8 x 10 print... so if you start out with that 2736 x 3648 size, you will still have room to crop your image down to 2400 x 3000.

In practice, you can go to the printer with a 250 dpi file... which gives you even more cropping room on the original. But 300 dpi is a good rule of thumb for a 'gallery-sharp' print that can be viewed from one foot away and still look sharp.
