incorrect.

the X-e1's top plate and front assembly are die cast metal as are the top dials and switch. there is no "bottom plate" per se as the base is composed of 2 elements: the front cast metal assembly and the FRP plastic rear assembly. the only other external plastic body pieces are the flash unit and control buttons. imo, the overall the quality is very good to excellent with only the sub command dial feeling a bit on the chintzy side.
