Editing in the camera would be extremely difficult to get right, you'd have to cut in and out at precisely the right time, no room for error. The editing of your video elements is a critical step in the process. With only one file it would be a PITA to divide the single file after the fact so that you can shorten segments and/or rearrange them. If assembling your multiple files into a single result is the issue I suggest getting one of the simpler video editors (eg Premiere Elements) which is mostly a drag and drop interface.
