I owned the 16-35 for several months and just traded it for a 14-24. My feeling was that at 16mm the 16-35 was basically unuesable as the distortion was just too great. At 35, it was not as good a lens as it was in the middle of the zoom range. So essentially, I found that it was a decent 18-24 or 18-28 lens and since I already own the 24-70, I further found that it was really useful to me only between 18 and 20. The 14-24 has much better distortion control, colors are a bit warmer, which I like and even though it is not considered quite as good at 24mm as its other lengths, I did do a test with it at 24mm against the 24mm F1.4G and found very little difference.
