Thoughts and updates on DSTE MB-D12 grip?

Recently bought a D800 and I'm looking at battery grip options.  I read the previous threads here about the DSTE MB-D12 off ebay but they all seem to be from 5+ months ago.

I'm wondering if anyone has any new thoughts or updates about the performance of this grip, particularly on the EL18 battery?  How often do you need to charge the battery?  Is there any change in performance over time?  Average amount of shots you've gotten?  Performance in cold weather?  Thoughts on weather sealing of the grip?

Any recent owners: have the EL18 been "coded" to indicate the battery levels?

Does the LV issue persist when the EL15 battery is not in the D800 body?
