New PC Build - Bare-bone Kit

Ordered a Bare-Bone kit from tigerdirect.com,

Just wondering how I should install the RAM, being 1x8gb and 1x4gb chip, thought ram should be in pairs? Put the chips in the same coloured slots? Do I loose Dual Channel as they do not match?

Did not pick this up till after I ordered.
