It's definitely a good idea to bring a Grad ND filter, especially useful for sunrise/sunset images so you can balance the bright sky with the foreground. I use a Hitech 0.9 Soft Edge with a Cokin P filter holder. Singh Ray also makes excellent Grad ND's but they are pricey. I find the Hitech give similar performance/quality at 1/3 of the price.

Thanks.  Am I to infer that you think the Hitech filters are higher quality than Cokin's own?  I ask because I can use Cokin's A system with my current lenses and it's a bit cheaper.  Hitech's filters don't appear to be compatible with Cokin A, just P.

I'll pay for P if I need to, but I try to save where possible.
