Just rambling here...

Well currently the big advantage of mirrorless is the size, not so much in the smaller bodies but the smaller glass. If Nikon was to market a higher end mirrorless and still rely on (mostly) FX lenses, what would be the point? Introducing another mount at this time may not be financially feasible, or technically if they do not have the engineering staff to pull it off.

I also see that the Nikon 1 series is still the best selling mirrorless system out there so maybe they are fine with the way things are and their current line up. I can't see either Nikon or Canon giving up the higher end DX format yet, there still seems to be a pretty high demand for it although I'm sure at some point in the future that may change; for those that need (want) the advantages of a pro DX offering, mirrorless isn't there yet.

I guess the million dollar question is will the D7000 and D300 merge into one product and if so, what will it offer.
