Qute! (Q first impressions)

My cute Q and 5-15 came in yesterday, so i've been playing around with it!

I have a K5 and set of 10 primes, so i thought the zoom would be fun. I was right - i keep forgetting i can zoom! It's a very creative little camera, and i really like the "smart effects" on the quick dial. Especially being able to memorise my own smart effects (as user1, user2 etc) using a combination of color modes and filter effects. I love the size, it fits is my coat pocket. And it looks like my dear wife will be willing to use it too, seeing that the K5 seems much too complicated. It isn't really, the Q can do almost everything the K5 can, on a smaller scale. Quite amazing really!

We had some dramatic skies today, and i also shot a few silly details inside the house... so here goes...

In-camera b&w, sepia tone & vignetting

IQ-wise, i am amazed. Compared to my little 4-year-old P&S, it is in a completely different league. Closer to the K5 than it is to the P&S!

As i mostly shoot in B&W (as you may have noticed), i would be all for a B&W only Q, with no bayer matrix. It would automatically get a couple of stops extra ISO, and more detail, as it will be rid of the bayer pattern aliasing.

What i think is missing from a camera this size is an automated pano stitching feature. Nice for scenery and touristy stuff. Maybe the next Q. Of course i can do it in post.
