Fascinating.

Bold and disconcerting, the mesmeric lines lure the eye to the void.  Yet the other stroke, entering bottom right and exiting top left, is a snub to the force.  As cavalier and asymmetrical as it is not, it strikes a wonderful juxtapose as it defiantly looks the other way.

Great use of the 'eye.  The curves you've created are the picture rather than just being a consequence of presentation.  I think that blowing out the centre might be an experiment worth trying, but otherwise your conversion works well for me.
