Answering to both Markus and rattymouse:
Oh, yes, Markus, thanks for pointing it out, in-camera referring to explicit conversion of a RAF file after it has been taken as such (i.e., not a JPEG image); I forgot about that option. Well, I never used it in any camera, so far. It will take forever for more than a handful of images, however; does not look like a sustainable solution.
I 'think' I'm happy with DNC, except that I'd need a 12MP image. I'll have to try SilkyPix, too. I'm not planning to spent half to cost of XF1 to get software just to convert XF1's RAF files. The JPEG files look fine EXCEPT for the artifacts.
I'm not happy with this situation, and Fuji should do something instead of waiting from 3rd party vendors (see recent Fujifilm executive interview) to solve their problem.
Rattymouse, I appreciate your feedback but your sweeping statements are border on aggressive than point-making..
