XE-1. I had an OM-D but, for me, the IQ was nowhere near the XE-1. I wanted to like it...I really did. The kit lens on the OM-D, in my opinion, was...let's say...less than stellar. I had problems even at base ISO.

Thanks for the prompt reply mate. The kit lens is one of the reasons I want the XE1!

Lots of folks are having good luck with the OM-D. I just wasn't one of them. I love my XE-1...slow(ish) AF and all.

Honestly, how slow is the AF? Now, since I have experience with only the canon 550d, and no experience with the OMD, how does it fair in comparison?

And how laggy is the evf in low light?

AF is not nearly as bad as some have reported.  It's not as fast as the OM-D - which is quite fast - but I haven't missed a shot yet (to be fair, I don't shoot much action-type stuff).  The EVF isn't too bad (lag-wise) in low light either.  The 18-55 kit lens runs circles around the OM-D kit.

I do have to agree with something Ratty said above...this camera won't make you a better photographer.  No camera will.  It cost me time and money to figure that out.  That said, the XE-1 might make you slow down a bit and think a bit more...which may, in turn, make you a better photographer.
