Is there a deadline? Perhaps you ought to wait and try it a bit longer.

IMO F 2.8 is fairly dark and fairly limiting to start with.

I used my Sony R1, 24 mm to 120 mm, for years, but, needed flash a lot because it started wide at f 2.8, it's biggest limitation; and my biggest reason for getting my rx100 f 1.8 when wide.

A million no flash shots I could not get with R1 are now available with rx100.

No way would I want to give up a fast low light lens for a f 2.8 zoom. A faster lens has many other advantages, and is why you can successfully crop to zoom, which, for the RX1 I now fully understand.
