As much as I like the images from the RX1

I find the exact opposite.  I have the D800 and a bunch of lenses and feel liberated with the almost descreet RX1. The large DSLR with clunky, noisy mirrors etc is so last decade in my book(for non pros that is). Im tired of having to fine tune lenses and I still don't think I have them all right. Lugging it around is also not in my interest anymore.  After shooting thousands of pics with the iPhone/RX100 I gotten used to not having a Viewfinder very quickly. The RX1 gives me the IQ better then what I get out of all my D800 gear short of the 70-200 VR2. Im sure I could buy the Sigma 35 for the D800 and get the same IQ but it will just sit in my closet. Many people forget the RX1 is about convenience and size. Also the RX1 with its build quality and almost analog function with all the dial is a joy not only to shoot with but just to hold and tinker with like a fine swiss watch. When I want some zoom or even a smaller awesome camera I have the RX100.  When I go on vacation I will always take both.

If your style is action sports, fast moving kids, air shows etc then disregard my opinion as a high end DSLR with many lenses would be better for you.

Im actually selling all my DSLR gear short of the tripod. The next time I decide to get back into a system if I do it will be when mirror less cameras go FF with faster AF systems etc.  For now I am going to enjoy the RX1 as it forces me to think and be more creative. It looks like Sony is starting to release FW updates so hopefully one will come out in the future to address some of the very minor quibbles the RX1 has.

If you really feel its not for you then you might want to sell it.  Its not for everyone.
