If this is the first generation 70-200 L f2.8, $1100 does not appear to be a bargain price for a lens with a scratched element.  KEH is selling its Bargain quality lenses for as little as $889.  You might want to check out the website for descriptions of quality levels and prices before deciding about this lens.
