Good to hear your positive experience with 70-200G. I wanted to test it today but my busy work schedule ruined my plan. On the other hand, my Tamron 70-300 Di USD "thinks" itself as Sony 70-300G and therefore also got AF-D support. I did a brief shooting of flying seagull and can confirm it's working fine with AF-D.
