The interesting thing is there doesn't seem to be any consistency. Some people have failures and it is blamed on lack of use and then you will hear of someone who doesn't use the printer a lot and it is fine. I have read about people who have printing businesses and have had the head go down. Some people have humidified and have problems and others will post that they have no issues and they are in a drier environment.

FWIW, all I can say is that I had a 7600, 7800 and 7900. Each generation has been more difficult but neither the 7600 or 7800 had a failure like the 7900. Overall, the 7600 was the most trouble free. The 7600 did need either very good profiles like Bill Atkinson provided (custom made to compensate for the non-linearity of the printer) or a RIP.
