Please help me to import stills into iMovie!!

I am trying to import a few stills into iMovie in order to complete a video I am working on and no matter what I do I can't seem to accomplish this. From what I am reading I should be able to use stills in iMovie unless I am mistaken. I am trying to import JPGs from my hardrive on my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
