Thanks so much for your response, you always provide great advice. I would like to swap out lenses but the Q only has 1 other rectlinear lens the 8mm F/1.9, so the concept of swapping out lenses is nice, if there are actual lenses to swap out What are the options for primes? That 16mm F/1.4 you posted looks awesome!

Thanks!

That is a C mount lens with adapter, the problem is you have to get more expensive C mount lenses to get good results. You probably want to get a 5 MP lens. A 3 MP lens might be okay, I haven't tried any yet, but the cheap $20 lenses for the most part are for VGA security systems, they have really poor image quality for imaging (like half MP).

Don't forget about the newer 15-45mm f/2.8 lens too, it is a fairly large aperture telephoto lens that some others have used here, I think it just came out a couple months ago so supply is a little spotty.

I will say Q has limited depth of field control at further distances, for closer distances it does well enough. For easy solution, I would get the camera and add the 15-45mm f/2.8. It is hard to find the 8.5mm f/1.9 separately. I was just going to pick that lens up but I can't find it anywhere.

My main usability issue with the Q is the screen has no anti-glare coating on it so it is terrible in bright light (not even direct sunlight) so just keep that in mind. Some of the buttons are also on the small side for my fingers (mainly the up directional button). Build quality is excellent though, it is a solid little camera.

Thank y ou once again for the valuable information and excellent reviews in your blog! I pulled the trigger on the Q, the deal was too good to pass up, Have you used / tested any wide angle C-Mount lenses (24mm, 28mm, 35mm FOV) on the Pentax Q? ANy WA reccomendations?

I haven't yet, honestly the kit 5-15mm f/2.8-4.5 is quite good at 5mm (28mm equiv), so it would be my wide of choice for now.  I did test a 6mm f/1.2 lens, but it was one of those horrid VGA lenses I was mentioning, you would have to consider it a toy lens, even at f/2.8.
