And when you speak in terms of ISO sensitivity, you may compare in terms of EV. The difference between ISO800 and ISO1600 = 1EV, for instance. Here you can draw a horizontal line across most points on this graph and see that when the SNR is equal for these three cameras, the Fuji generally lags by approximately 1EV. It's not that difficult to understand, I think.

I used the X10's measurement for comparison, which measured slightly better than the X-S1 even while using the same sensor. Comparing "Print/8 MP" resolution the vertical difference is about 2 dB SNR between X10 vs. RX100 at low ISO and less than 2 dB at high ISO. Horizontally the difference is closer to 2/3 EV than to 1 EV, at some points maybe in between.

This is when using the EXR sensor at 12 MP and then comparing both sensors after resizing down to 8 M. At full resolution "per-pixel/screen" SNR are virtually the same according to DXO, so Fuji's claim is not far off from DXO results at all. Their marketing does just not comply to your quality standard of comparing averaged/sized down SNR measurements.

And had the Sony output been sized down to 6 MP and the EXR sensor been used in 6 MP EXR mode you would have seen closer "print" results as well, likely the EXR sensor would come out somewhat better (I doubt that the Sony can gain another 2/3 - 1.0 EV by sizing down another 2 MP, but don't know for sure either).

All that being said, I am far from being a Fuji fanboy, to the contrary.

Well, you are welcome to speculate wildly about data we don't have available, just as Fuji, as shown, is allowed to wildy speculate about products it hasn't released into the consumer channels yet.  I for one would be hesitant to make any decisions based on their early marketing claims and would wait and see how they actually perform.  Or here's an idea for Fuji: If you are going to make huge claims, then release the camera for testing BEFORE you ship it or if you have, release the sites from their NDAs BEFORE you ship the camera.  The way they are locking the information down to just what they pump out leaves me wondering even more so what they have to hide.
