You said that the snowy owl is very shy and I'm sure that's true, but I was running on a trail one day when a snowy owl landed on a fence right in front of me. It must have been only ten to twenty yards away. I stopped and studied him for a good ten minutes, wishing I had a camera with me, before he got tired of looking at me and left. He didn't seem bothered by me at all, probably because he could tell I'm such a slow runner and was no match for him. I was amazed by how beautiful and large they are.
