For me after 5 minutes of testing in low light conditions only (interior, 7 am, few lights open) :

With the 35mm 1.4 :

+ hit focus more often even with the smallest focus zone (only fail on flat-dark area) ==> confirm Ryan conclusion
+ seems little bit quicker (but not sure of that)
- seems to me more noisy than before (strange noise than i'll describe later if you want to compare)

With the 18-55 :

+ hit focus more often even with the smallest focus zone (idem 35mm)
- seems to be slower than before
- seems to make no noise after the 35mm (even if stab off)

Cant tell if it add more accurate focus...

I have not updated mine yet.. but are you sure the AF on the 18-55 is slower than before? If this si true, it will be very sad and I would not update it for now as this si the only lens i am currently using until the Zeiss are released.

I dont use smallest AF box. I use the largest instead. With some technique I adopted, I found AF is fast. and accurate most of the time even in dark.

Guess I will wait for more feedback or the next firmware if that the FX really slow down the AF of the zoom.

I haven't noticed any slowing of AF on the 18-55 after the update. It does seem to grab focus more easily in dim light, though. The "strange pixels" problem associated with the zoom has also been fixed, so I'm really happy with the update.
