Artistic feel from D800

For the past few weeks I have been trying to assess my images.  I have become better at a lot of things but my images have a certain feel to them that I am unsure about.  I can only describe it as the difference between the evening news and a John Wayne movie, the difference between 60i video and 24p.  I have experimented with warming the image and have now started to do the opposite of what I ever thought,  going negative on the clarity adjustment.  I am seeking clear images that are appealling,  but to me my images seem , well, I dont know, like plastic.   The image I will attatch is not a very good image artistically it is there for you to judge the look and feel of.

Is there anything wromg with the post processing of this image,  what would you do to it.  I use V NX2, Bridge and CS6.
