canon G1X price question

Hello,
Looking to buy a G1X for an upcoming trip. Looks like a used one in good condition (six months old, 500 pics taken, supposedly no scratches) would run $450. A new one from reputable dealer around $599. What would you recommend - buy the used and put the extra toward a second canera like the canon sx50 or play it safe and go with the new g1x? Any ideas if price on new ones expected to drop soon or rebates coming up?
