If you only ever shoot one format it has no relevence at all. Just learn how that format works and be happy. No need to confuse things.

Howerver it is relevant to me because I used to shoot 35mm film, then APS-C (DX digital) then full frame (FX digital). I still think of my lenses in 35mm terms so I like to make the comparison.
