Logic of being able to AF with AF-L button only in M focus mode?

This is but one of the many human factors that Fuji got wrong which they could fix with a firmware update. The strange thing is that they don't. Perhaps they are waiting until the next generation? I know that I am.

If they fix the these issues, I'll be at the front of the line to buy one even though I'll have to use Nikon mount lenses as Fuji doesn't make a single lens that is useful to me.
