They actually turned out comparable:

A friend loaned 50 CR2 files from a Canon 6D where I batched them to 16bit TIF files for comparison with SPP. Results are as follows:

50 CR2 files exported to 16bit TIF by Digital Photo Pro (DPP) elapsed time 17 min 22 sec. Average file size 119.9 Mbyte.

50 X3F files (from my DP2M) exported to 16bit TIF by Sigma Photo Pro (SPP) elapsed time 21 min 45 sec. Average file size 88.6 Mbyte.

I think it is interesting that the processing times are close when everyone complains about SPP being slow.

Windows 8 64 bit platform.
