anyone gone from the Minolta 50mm 1.7 to the Sony 35mm 1.8

As the title says..anyone gone from the Minolta 50mm 1.7 to the Sony 35mm 1.8? If so, was it worthwhile? I shop on a small budget, but right now could get a new Sony 35mm 1.8 for $160 (including tax and shipping). I assume I could sell my Minolta for around $70, so $90 out of pocket.

That said, is it worth it? I do like my Minolta a great deal. I shoot an a57, mostly indoors, and mostly trying to get shots of my fast moving 2yr old. Occassionally I find the Minolta a bit too long, but can normally adjust, sometimes i can't get the focus quick enough to get a sharp shot. I'm wondering if the Sony 35mm would solve both of those issues.

Anyone else made the transition and would/would not recommend it?
