Personally I don't see any reason to use f2.8 zooms on FF. The advantage of FF is wide and DOF, so why would you not use fast primes to maximize the DOF advantage? APS-C is when you want smaller and lighter, and that probably means you'll also want the convenience of zooms, so save the f2.8 24-200mm equivalent zooms for APS-C and also hopefully save some money. If Pentax would just make a K-5 body with a 4/3 Sony sensor, then that would be perfect for the longer primes and zooms, in my opinion.

What about all those FF Canikon pros running around with 24-70 and 70-210 f2.8 zooms? That's pretty standard gear and they must be using it for a reason.
I'm sure they have a reason, but that doesn't mean their reasons should be my reasons. If you don't agree with my split, that's fine, but don't you think you should come up with your own reasons for doing so?

I'm not a professional or in the market for a FF camera or the fast zooms to go with them -- so I don't have any reasons. All I know is the professional event photographers who I've run into seem to use them as their default lenses. That doesn't mean you need to but it seems others want them and use them.
