20mm f2. No point in a f2.8 version as we have the 14-24, so we do need a faster super wide.

135mm f1.8 or f2. They have to introduce this, otherwise it's a Zeiss 125 f5 for me and everyone else.

300mm f4 VR. It's waaaay overdue!

400mm f4 or f5.6 VR. This lens is a real hole in the Nikon line up as far as I am concerned. Canon has an f5.6, why not Nikon!

100-400 f4-5.6 VR. Another hole in the Nikon line up and one that Canon has that we don't.

500mm f5.6 VR. As others have pointed out, long lenses are out of reach for many hobbiests and this would be a great addition.

I don't know that there is really much more that is urgently needed, yes there are some that would be nice to have, but not really needed.

Pretty much with you on this:

  • AF-S 135/2
  • AF-S 300/4
  • AF-S 400/5.6
  • AF-S 100-400/4.5-5.6

All preferably with VR.

The present AF-D versions are well due for replacement and overpriced to Canon versions (which all have USM) - e.g. the hopeless 135/2 DC (can't AF, soft till stopped down, only good for a portrait lens) is around $1300 compared to the EF 135/2L USM at around $1050.

Nikon don't seem to want to do affordable and decent long or sports (with the exception of the 70-200 2.8 VR II if that counts).

Mind you, Canon aren't exactly rushing to renew their aging models either but what they have is still better than Nikon in this area.

If I shot wildlife or high school sports (e.g. basketball) I would seriously think about getting a Canon 5D3 or 7D to fill that role. (as another system)
