E-M5 fun and frustration at the same time

If you find the format frustrating, look around for what you might find more tolerable.  One's camera should become an extension of themselves, and there's no need to put up with any impediments with the selection of bodies/formats available.

I feel just the opposite.   While some of the glass considerations can be troubling I still find the E-M5 with the right glass for the objective to be an experience that leaves me thinking little about alternatives.
