Which APS camera to buy?

If you want the Sony advantages and not duplicate the XE1 too much you can consider the wonderful little Sony RX100 as a complement to the XE1.

The little Sony will outresolve the XE1 but can't match it for low light performance.

The Sony has fantastic video which is stabilised and looks like you used a glide rig. AF is seamless and quiet in video. Zoom is smooth and non jerky. Sound is clear and deep. The video in room light tends to be underexposed especially if you zoom in it does not compensate for the drop in aperture enough. But you can assign the lens ring to exposure compensation and adjust it during the video.

The Sony AF system works really well. RX100 photos are very high quality and the sweep panorama works well.

Of course the main advantage is such a superb camera so well built in such a small packet size body.

You can also "pimp" it with leather strip add ons, a beautiful Gariz leather case, soft shutter release buttons and LCD screen protectors.

Its my go-to camera for video and also for small form type high quality shots.
