Beginner DSLR camera Nikon vs Sony

Hi,
I'm looking for an upgrade from my Cybershot point and shoot camera to an SLR. I liked Sony A57, A65 and Nikon D5100. Could you please advise the pros and cons for these cameras and help me choose among these. From different websites I got a common info as SLR camera's low light performance is much better compared to SLT models. Also as I'm new to SLR photography which of these models are more user friendly? Also is D5100 is an older model or should I wait for D5200 to lower the prices.
Also I would like to know more about the Sony optics (image quality) when compared to Nikon. I'll also be taking more videos using my camera
