Sony 16-35 f2.8 or Sony 24 f2

Does anyone have experience with both of these?  I don't really need the f2 so I'm mostly interested in the 16-35 at 24mm compared to the 24 f2 - are they close or is the 24 f2 much better?  I will use the lens stopped down most of the time but not always so I'd be interested in performance wide open too.  The range of the 16-35 would be nice but not a deciding factor.
