I don't like to create many sizes of the same images for the web just to support users the use different size displays. These days most web users that want images and video have high speed connections so IMO you do not need to be so concerned about file sizes. So rather then creating different size images for the web I create image to display well on at a fairly large size. Most of my displays are UXGA dis plays that display 1600x1200 pixels so i create image fitted for the pixel size. I use a Photoshop Script to create web galleries the use Flash viewers that will re-size these images to fit the users browser window. One of the viewers I use is WS_Slideshow it supports a full screen mode also. The Photoshop script creates small square center crop thumbnails for my images an a large image fitted to 1600x1200 pixels. The large image can be watermarked and the script can also create image captions and display exif data.
