Want to know why climate change denialists exist?

This is a guess, however I would guess if you looked at many other issues as well, such as gun control, evolution taught in schools, gay rights, should Iraq have been attacked, the same people are on one side and other people who side with scientific studies showing global warming related to human activity would on the other. Why do climate change denialists exist? A large enough percentage of any given population are just plain stupid and are proud of it. They are easily exploited by the people who have real money to make on their ignorance.
